Gridence at AERO Friedrichshafen 2026: Key Reflections

Gridence participated at AERO Friedrichshafen 2026, one of Europe’s leading aviation events. Returning from Friedrichshafen last week, one signal was unmistakable: electronic conspicuity is no longer a niche topic, it is becoming a shared European priority.

At AERO 2026, Gridence showcased its real-time airspace situational awareness platform, including multi-sensor integration and an ADS-B UAT ground station. Throughout the event, we engaged with a wide range of stakeholders from sensor manufacturers and infrastructure operators to pilots and emerging drone service providers.

Across nearly every discussion, the same theme emerged: as low-altitude airspace becomes more crowded, visibility between aircraft and drones is no longer optional, it is the foundation for safe and scalable operations.

Several observations stood out:

ADS-B UAT ground station deployments are clearly accelerating across Europe. With legacy systems retiring and regulatory pathways opening, multiple countries are now actively planning initial deployments or network expansion.

At the same time, the rapid growth of the drone economy is forcing the issue. Drones are increasingly sharing the same airspace with manned aviation, making real-time situational awareness a critical requirement rather than a future capability.

Another key trend is the growing availability of commercially ready electric aircraft, with electric propulsion increasingly emerging as a viable alternative to traditional combustion engines. Lower operating costs are expected to significantly increase recreational aviation activity, further emphasizing the need for robust conspicuity infrastructure.

What was particularly encouraging was the level of interest in going beyond basic visibility. Many stakeholders are now asking not just what is in the airspace, but what the data means; patterns, anomalies, and operational insights. This aligns directly with Gridence’s focus: transforming airspace data into actionable intelligence for decision-making.

A personal highlight was seeing our stand become a natural meeting point, bringing together pilots, partners, customers, and industry peers. Many valuable discussions took place directly in front of the Gridence live system.

We return from AERO with new partnerships, validated use cases, and a strong confirmation that the market is moving toward integrated, multi-sensor situational awareness solutions.
