Gridence Oy, Tomi Oravasaari

Gridence is participating as an industry partner in the Tactical Eye research project, contributing to the development of next-generation situational awareness systems for demanding operational environments.

Launched in April 2026, the Tactical Eye project focuses on developing mobile robotics solutions for defence applications in challenging field conditions. Led by Metropolia and conducted in collaboration with the University of Turku, the project is funded by Business Finland with over €1.5 million. It brings together Finnish SMEs and research organizations to build a multi-sensor, multi-agent system capable of operating in complex and degraded environments.

The project partners include ALD Trade Oy, Anderoidi Oy, DNA Oyj, Gridence Oy and Pro Team Innovations Oy.

At the core of the project is the development of a system that combines data from multiple sensors to automatically form a clear and actionable situational picture. The system is designed to operate in exceptional conditions where traditional monitoring and situational awareness infrastructure may be unavailable or limited, while also supporting everyday use cases such as area surveillance. A key objective is to enable seamless integration of different systems through shared interfaces and architectures, lowering the barrier for connecting new sensors and platforms.

Gridence contributes to the project both financially and through its technology and expertise. In addition to participating in the project’s co-funding with direct financial contribution, the company provides its situational awareness platform, as well as system monitoring services and expert support. This includes training users, supporting sensor integration, and contributing to the design of data architecture and data transfer solutions.

Through the project, Gridence aims to gain practical experience in integrating autonomous ground systems into a unified operational picture, while further developing the platform’s ability to coordinate multiple systems, incorporate new sensor types and simulators, and leverage AI in traffic and situational data analysis.

Participation in Tactical Eye supports Gridence’s product development and strengthens its position for international growth. The project reflects the growing global relevance of resilient, data-driven situational awareness solutions and highlights the strength of Finnish expertise in defence, autonomy and preparedness.

We look forward to working closely with all project partners.
